As with our ancient and enormous mango tree and our several guava trees, the Hermitage was already endowed with
a legacy of tropical fruit trees when we arrived
—
including two coconut palms that produce a bountiful harvest
and
two keikis that sprouted as we were beginning our work to prune back the jungle.
Below is an early picture of our two mature coconuts in the partially pruned rain forest
that marked our beginnings.
