Our produce garden began after we had done major site work excavating a bio-berm,
grading it for truck farming,
and
then bringing in four cubic yards of cattle manure to prepare the sandy soil
(which at the Hermitage occurs only on this berm).
The garden presently features
Bell peppers,
Bib lettuce,
Daikon radishes,
eggplant,
garlic,
green beans,
Jalapeno peppers,
mirliton,
pumpkin,
snap peas,
spinach,
squash,
sweet potatoes,
and
tomatoes.
Our only aspiration for now is to supply our table, but as our gardening expands we will
also supply the tables of neighbors in need.
