Avocado



As we learned from our visit to Uncle George Kahumoku's farm, an aspect of malama a'ina, reverence for the land, is to plant as God has planted — with trees and herbs and vegetables and living mulch (we use New Zealand white clover) freely intermixed. And this is how we found the land that would become the Hermitage, which we now encourage and cultivate. Here our avocadoes grow beside our cinnamon, guava, and ancient mango:
